Salary Range: $100,000 – $135,000

Estimator Job Description:
This senior-level position involves preparing and coordinating comprehensive estimates on large and complex projects. You will provide conceptual and final estimating input throughout the preconstruction phase of CM/GC, DB, and DBB projects (Construction Manager, General Contractor; Design Build; Design-Bid-Build). The role may include supervising junior staff and typically requires over 7 years of construction estimating experience.

  • Municipal (25%): state capital, government, police stations, performing arts facilities, outdoor theater, renovation of historic theaters, Libraries

Responsibilities:

  • Operate primarily autonomously
  • Collaborate with business development and marketing departments on site visits to gather information for RFPs or estimates
  • Perform comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects
  • Identify key issues and opportunities impacting project success
  • Support estimating functions including delegation of work, responsibility areas, compiling estimates, and preparation
  • Lead the bidding process including solicitation, communication, proposals, evaluation, and analysis
  • Coach and mentor other estimators
  • Proficient with all estimating tools such as Dashboard, tracking log, cost model, estimate, RFI logs, clarifications, etc.
  • Assist with interviewing candidates for the Estimating Department
  • Train other estimators in the preconstruction process
  • Stay current with computer software updates
  • Participate in company training programs and attend authorized external conferences or seminars to stay current with industry standards and procedures
  • Perform special assignments, additional projects, or other job-related duties as required by the executive team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Design, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of estimating experience
  • Proficient in MS Office, internet resources, and estimation software
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, construction methods, and contracts
  • Industrial project experience
  • Strategic, critical, and analytical thinker
  • Willingness to travel to construction sites
