Job Title: Drywall Estimator
Position Type: Full-time, Exempt
Job Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing estimates and bids for assigned projects. This role involves assessing project requirements, securing quotations, and ensuring accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed quantity surveys to identify labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to review workforce needs and labor production rates before finalizing proposals.
- Obtain and analyze quotations from material suppliers, subcontractors, and other relevant parties.
- Understand various estimating factors such as labor rates, scheduling, construction techniques, safety issues, and building codes that impact costs.
- Prepare precise quantity takeoffs and material pricing and determine labor and equipment costs.
- Review and address contractual and insurance requirements during the bidding process.
- Develop bid estimates considering project schedules and safety measures.
- Assist project management in creating job cost budgets, managing material and subcontractor agreements, handling change orders, and conducting post-project evaluations.
- Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with estimating assumptions.
- Engage in estimating meetings to support department communication, improvement, and training.
- Collaborate with the project management team post-award.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives as directed.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years of experience in project management or estimating within the wall and ceiling sector.
- Strong skills in making accurate judgments and calculations and preparing well-organized estimates and proposals.
- Understanding of contractual terms, scheduling, and activity identification in project timelines.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and estimating software such as Quick Bid, with the ability to read and interpret specifications, blueprints, and drawings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field.
- Experience in business development.
- Knowledge of local construction markets.
