Drywall Preconstruction Manager/Estimator
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Drywall Preconstruction Manager/Estimator to join their team. This role is responsible for managing all preconstruction and estimating efforts related to drywall and acoustical scopes, ensuring accurate, competitive bids and seamless project transitions from preconstruction to operations.
Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for drywall and related scopes (framing, insulation, acoustical ceilings, etc.) based on project drawings, specifications, and site visits.

Analyze project documents to determine scope, risks, and value engineering opportunities.

Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, architects, and vendors throughout the preconstruction phase.

Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing, ensuring competitive and qualified proposals.

Lead internal takeoffs using digital estimating tools and software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, PlanSwift).

Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and client presentations to support estimate development and build relationships.

Create and maintain budgets, schedules, and bid proposals aligned with client expectations and company goals.

Support transition from preconstruction to operations by coordinating hand-offs with project teams and participating in kickoff meetings.

Maintain and update historical cost data, unit pricing, and subcontractor/vendor databases.

Stay current with industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure accurate market-based estimates.
Requirements:

5+ years of experience in drywall estimating and preconstruction, preferably within commercial construction.

Strong knowledge of drywall assemblies, acoustical ceilings, metal framing, and insulation systems.

Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Proficient in takeoff/estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar tools.

Familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Bluebeam).

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required).
