Position Overview:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination & Execution

  • Independently identify and execute tasks without needing specific direction.
  • Review and understand project drawings, specifications, subcontractor agreements, and purchase orders.
  • Manage and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure timely procurement.
  • Oversee and submit submittals to ensure compliance with project documents.
  • Proactively track and manage material procurement to meet project schedules.
  • Obtain and ensure compliance with building, stormwater, and other required permits.
  • Track and coordinate all required testing and inspections throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work with superintendents and project managers to generate and update project schedules.

Quality Control & Closeout

  • Generate pre-punch list items and collaborate with owners/architects to complete final punch lists.
  • Manage the punch list and closeout process, ensuring all deficiencies are resolved.
  • Serve as the information hub between project teams, field personnel, and design teams.

Financial & Change Management

  • Identify, price, and track owner and subcontractor change orders.
  • Assist with job setup, project meetings, and record-keeping.
  • Ensure effective documentation and communication of budgeting and billing processes.

Safety & Compliance

  • Collaborate with superintendents to develop safety plans and enforce company-wide safety policies.
  • Conduct job site tours and safety inspections, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date First Aid, CPR, and OSHA 10 certifications.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience as a Project Engineer in commercial construction (residential or multifamily experience does not qualify).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Revit, Navisworks, and Bluebeam is highly desired.
  • Strong ability to interpret construction documents and solve practical problems in dynamic environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications in First Aid, CPR, and OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 preferred).

Salary:

  • The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $87,000 per year, based on education, experience, and project location.
