Job Summary:

The Project Manager in Commercial Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing all phases of commercial construction projects from inception to completion. This includes planning, coordinating, budgeting, and supervising projects to ensure they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The Project Manager will work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality construction projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Development:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.

 

Project Execution:

  • Oversee daily construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and building codes.

 

Budget and Cost Management:

  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including cost estimates, resource allocation, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures.
  • Approve and track change orders and variations to the contract.

 

Scheduling and Coordination:

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate project logistics, including materials delivery, equipment, and labor.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth workflow.

 

Quality Control and Assurance:

  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure high standards of workmanship.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor progress and quality.
  • Address any non-conformance issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.

 

Client Relations and Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular project updates and addressing concerns.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present project reports, proposals, and documentation as required.

 

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and mentor project team members, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Identify training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction, with a track record of successfully completed projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore).
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
  • PMP or other relevant certifications are a plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate and inspect all areas of the construction site.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

 

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require working outside regular business hours to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel to various project sites may be required.
