Traveling Superintendent – Commercial Construction (Confidential Client)
Location: Austin, TX or Dallas–Fort Worth, TX
Travel: Required (Texas-based projects)
Compensation: $120K – $130K Base + Per Diem + Benefits
Overview
A reputable commercial general contractor is actively seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to support a growing pipeline of projects across Texas. This role will focus on managing field operations for a variety of commercial construction projects, with an emphasis on retail, industrial, and big box developments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Superintendent who enjoys travel, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is looking to grow with a contractor that has consistent project flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all on-site construction activities from project start through completion
- Manage daily field operations, subcontractors, and site logistics
- Drive and maintain project schedules to ensure timely delivery
- Enforce safety protocols and maintain OSHA compliance across all job sites
- Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, and ownership teams
- Lead subcontractor meetings and ensure alignment with project timelines
- Monitor quality control and ensure work meets plans and specifications
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively to avoid delays
Project Experience (Required)
Candidates must have experience managing commercial construction projects $6M–$7M+ in value, including:
- Retail Construction (stand-alone buildings and shopping centers)
- Industrial Projects (tilt-wall, warehouse, distribution, manufacturing)
- Big Box Developments
- Ground-up commercial construction experience
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
- Proven ability to successfully deliver projects in the $6M–$7M+ range or larger
- Strong background in retail, industrial, and tilt-wall construction
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and maintaining project schedules
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, etc.)
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
Location & Travel Requirements
- Must be based in Austin or the Dallas–Fort Worth area
- Must be open to traveling throughout Texas depending on project needs
- Per diem provided for travel assignments
