Job Summary
Our client, a leading provider of industrial products, engineered solutions, and services for the industrial process and energy sectors, is seeking a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the manufacturing facility through accurate financial reporting, cost analysis, inventory control, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives. This role plays a critical part in accelerating month end close and reporting processes while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and internal controls. Initial focus will be to forge strong business partnerships and provide financial analysis and decision support to the leadership team to ensure profitable growth, and to drive improvements in accounting processes and automation.
Working closely with the Controller, the Senior Accountant provides financial insight into manufacturing operations, job costing, inventory management, and production performance to support operational efficiency and strategic decision making. This role will also have upward career opportunities within Finance and Accounting, as well as the ability to pursue advancement opportunities in manufacturing, procurement, and general management organizations.
Responsibilities and Duties
Build strong business partnerships with the leadership team and provide financial insights and decision support.
Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls and compliance procedures.
Maintain and reconcile inventory balances and monitor inventory transactions.
Analyze manufacturing costs, labor variances, material usage, and production efficiencies.
Support the job costing system to ensure accurate project and production costing.
Support and help lead new ERP implementation efforts in coordination with the controller and accounting team.
Review financial data and trends for accuracy, reasonableness, and completeness; investigate unusual variances and transactions.
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
Ensure accuracy of intercompany reconciliations and support issue resolution.
Perform quality and compliance reviews of accounting transactions and reconciliations.
Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting systems and reporting processes.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Collaborate with plant operations leadership to improve cost controls and operational performance.
Perform additional ad hoc duties and special projects as assigned.
Competencies
Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory accounting principles.
Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting software.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Possess the highest level of integrity and ethics.

Good working knowledge of an ERP environment and how transactions interact.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, industrial services, or project based accounting environments.
CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience with ERP implementations.
Knowledge of job costing, standard costing, and intercompany accounting processes.
Experience supporting audits and tax preparation activities.
