Project Executive
Scott Humphrey
NOTE: Candidates with no construction experience will not be considered for this role.
The Opportunity:
A well-established and growing commercial general contractor is seeking a Project Executive to help lead and expand its presence in the San Antonio market.
The company already has an established client base and repeat work in San Antonio and is now looking to build a local team to better service those relationships and support continued growth in the market. This is not a traditional branch-office leadership position on day one; rather, it is an opportunity for the right individual to become the senior leader of a growing San Antonio operation.
The ideal candidate will combine strong Class A commercial interiors experience with an entrepreneurial, client-focused mindset. This person should enjoy executing high-quality work, developing teams, strengthening client relationships, and identifying opportunities to grow a market.
An established Project Executive is preferred, although a high-performing Senior Project Manager ready to step into a Project Executive role will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Provide executive-level oversight of Class A commercial interior and office projects throughout the San Antonio market.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for clients, architects, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Lead projects from preconstruction and planning through execution, turnover, and closeout.
- Oversee and mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other members of the local project team.
- Partner closely with field leadership to ensure projects meet expectations for schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while helping expand repeat and referral business.
- Identify new opportunities and contribute to business development efforts within the San Antonio market.
- Help recruit, develop, and establish a high-performing local project team as the company’s San Antonio workload grows.
- Maintain executive-level accountability for project financial performance, forecasting, risk management, and overall execution.
- Collaborate with leadership in the company’s established Texas operations while becoming a key local representative in San Antonio.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction, with significant experience managing Class A office interiors, corporate interiors, tenant improvements, and high-end commercial buildouts.
- 3+ years of experience in a senior leadership capacity, ideally as a Project Executive, Senior Project Manager, or similar role.
- Proven track record successfully managing multiple commercial construction projects and project teams simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of all phases of construction, including preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, project execution, and closeout.
- Demonstrated experience managing project financials, including cost forecasting, change management, profitability, and risk mitigation.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing, mentoring, and developing Project Managers, Project Engineers, and project teams.
- Excellent client-facing, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and other industry partners.
- Business development mindset with an interest in growing client relationships, generating repeat business, and expanding market presence.
- Established experience and relationships within the San Antonio commercial construction market strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Must be based in or have strong ties to the San Antonio, TX market.
What Makes This Role Different
This is an opportunity to join a company that already has repeat business and established client relationships in San Antonio without yet having a large permanent office structure in place.
The Project Executive will be one of the first key leadership hires supporting the market and will have the opportunity to build a team, grow existing relationships, and help shape the company’s long-term San Antonio presence.
For someone who enjoys both building projects and building a business, this role offers significant visibility and growth potential.
